How ShotTrack VoD units use TDR
ShotTrack VoD units measure Velocity of Detonation (VoD) using Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR). A length of standard coaxial cable is run down the explosive column. As the detonation front consumes the cable, the unit measures the changing cable length in real time and calculates the velocity of the detonation front.
This approach is fast, accurate, and simple — a single-button operation with standard coaxial cable means blast engineers and explosives professionals can get reliable results every time.
